Favorite 2014 Project Life Layouts

This was my second year with Project Life. I looooooved documenting 2014! I just didn’t blog about it as much as I wanted to. I did Instagram it. But I can’t wait to do it all over again next year!

So, these are my favorite pages from #PhillacePL2014! So much color! So much adventure!

  • I loved my 2014 title page.
  • The Wounded Warrior cerimony, surfing with the friends, Valentine’s weekend vacay to Molokai, dinners out, UH football, backyard sunrises.
  • Backyard picnics with my favorite little man, Memorial Day lantern ceremony, sibling photoshoot, a trip home, a birthday military ball, nature, hikes, Wy’s first Mariachi Cinco de Mayo, our one year anniversary / closing photo for the first album.
  • Second album / one year anniversary, our trip to Kauai, our honeymoon to New Zealand’s north and south islands AND Fiji, more hikes, and our trip to Palau.

2014 New Year’s Resolutions Review

Here are the New Year’s Resolutions I wrote in 2014 for my Project Life album(s). I plan on adding this blog post to the end of my album. It’s kind of cool to look at what I thought I was going to accomplish in 2014 and what I actually did. A pretty fun self reflection. I’m going to do this for 2015, too.

 photo IMG_6769_zpsa1e15c4e.jpg

  • Eat healthyI think I did. If anything, I’m much more aware of what I’m putting in my body.
  • Drink more waterI definitely started drinking more water after my co-workers bought me a Hydroflask. I think I started drinking even more towards the end of the year.
  • Exercise/stretch – Eh. We definitely are active. More so this year than the last 2. But I ran and went to the gym sporadically. I need to get back into hot yoga. I’ll try harder in 2015.
  • Floss – Oh, man. I was on it at the beginning of 2013. And then fell off. That’s why I put in on 2014’s list. But I don’t think I did it enough. Back on the list.
  • Find a favorite flavor of tea – I hardly drank tea let alone find a favorite flavor. BUT I did drink more coffee this year than any other. Does that count? No..
  • Try new restaurantsT and I are ALWAYS down for new eats!
  • Cook/bake – Rarely stepped inside the small space that is our kitchen. I hate it. I love our place, but I hate how tiny our kitchen is. Especially since my dad is a master chef and I’d like to be just like him :/
  • Take a class (language, ukulele) – I did not take a foreign language or music class BUT I did take 2 photography classes at UH. And I plan to take a BUNCH next year.
  • Pursue a Master’s degree –The military has always put this idea on hold. At first, we thought we’d be here for only a year. Then we were here for 3 more (but you have to apply a year in advance and a master’s program could take up to 3 years). Now, we might have the option of staying another 3. I need to figure this shiz out.
  • Fina a career I’ll enjoy – I don’t know what I want to do with my life. Haha. That’s okay, 27 is still young. And this economy. Blah blah blah. Haha. I’ll find it someday. And I think I’m okay with that.
  • Read booksI read a few. Not as many as I wanted, but more than the previous years. I’m going to try and read a book a month.
  • Surf, SUP, canoe, dive, hike, MORE TIME OUTSIDE!!I think we accomplished this! But living in Hawaii, you can ALWAYS spend more time outside! NEED to sign up for canoeing, no doubt next year. Paddling from Molokai to Oahu is on my Bucket List.
  • Less time on the phone – I think I spent MORE time on the phone! And  I noticed it right after I made this resolution. It’s not that I was on it at dinner (that’s something I cannot stand!), but when I was watching TV, or on my break, or when T drives at night. I also think that because I got (even more) into photography, I spent more time editing, analyzing, and playing with my photos.
  • Keep up with Project Life and the blog – My Project Life is 10xs better than last year’s (although it’s only my 2nd year doing this project). I love the things I stuck with and the things a changed. I kind of gave up on the blog. Two reasons: I didn’t want to give away all of Hawaii’s gems and my Photobucket was filling up and I didn’t (and still don’t) know how to upload photos and format this blog. I WILL BE TAKING WORDPRESS CLASSES UH IS OFFERING NEXT YEAR.
  • See moviesWe saw a TON of movies! And 2013’s resolution was to watch a bunch of old Oscar winning movies. We didn’t do that. So this year we made sure to go see the one’s we thought were up for nomination (along with other must-sees).
  • Attend concertsI think we did :) We saw Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, and a bunch of reggae concerts.
  • Travel somewhere newBOY, OH, BOY. This was a GOOD year. We went to Molokai. Kauai (we’ve been before but we did a lot of new, cool things). Our honeymoon! North and South Island of New Zealand and Fiji. Our one year anniversary! Palau. And we might road trip to Cabo (something we’ve never done before). 2014 was definitely a year of travel.
  • Plan for our future Wallace familyYes. And no. The intention of this resolution was to plan to have children this year. We discussed this and both agreed to wait. I don’t know how long. When it feels right. Not when we’re ready. No one’s ever really ready. When it feels good. And we can’t come off this traveling high. So, we’ll see. I still believe my purpose in life is to be a MOM. But I’ve recently found another purpose – to see new places, open my mind, try new things, grow as a person, as an individual.
  • Minimize, simplify, don’t be wastefulMinus my Venti coffee intake (I bought a reusable Grande coffee cup last year, but I needed more in 2014 and didn’t make the investment.. dang it), I have made conscious decisions on what I buy (in terms of packaging) and what I need (in relation to what I want). I’d like to thank Hawaii for this thought process. And my mom.
  • Breathe, be happy, enjoy each day I think this is something I will add to my list every year. I can always improve in this. 2014 was (and is) a wonderful year. Probably my favorite. But I can ALWAYS step back and appreciate a little more. I have so much to be thankful for.
