#PhillaceRoadtrip2014 Day Four

Our last day in AZ, we woke up even earlier to watch the sunrise at Horseshoe Bend. It was freeeeezing cold. So cold that Lola and I couldn’t stay a second longer and ran back to the car. Michael tried really hard to convince us to stay, “Oh, look at that! The sun on the canyon walls. The rivers turning pink. Ooo!” Haha. We had none of it!

After the sunrise, Trevor and I did a tour of Antelope Canyon. Michael and Lola napped in the car (thanks again, hermano!).

This place was magical!!

Because Lo and I missed Horseshoe Bend, the boys let us go back to take pictures.

Finally making our way home. We stopped in Utah for some In-n-out. An hour away from home, the freeways closed (snow), and we had to drive 2 1/2 hours out of the way to make it home. Thank goodness for Amy Poehler’s audiobook, Yes Please.

Well, that was fun. ‘Til next year!

#PhillaceRoadtrip2014 Day Three

Trevor and I woke up super early to air balloon around Sedona around sunrise! If dogs were allowed, we would have brought Shmo along (like when we went whale watching in Monterey ;)). But because the burners emit a high pitched sound only dogs can here, we left her to sleep in with Michael (thanks, hermano!).

Unfortunately, the burners caught fire while we were up there (loose O ring + too cold outside = a free 10 minute ride), so we had to emergency landing.

First on some shrubs and bushes. Then onto the road.

After that crazy adventure, we picked up Michael and Lo and attempted West Fork Trail.. and it’s 13 stream crossings..

This was so much fun! Watching Michael try to walk across a somewhat frozen lake.. Priceless.

Michael fell in a couple of times, Lola looooooooooved the ice. We all couldn’t stop laughing. We only made it 2/13 crossings and turned around.

We overheard a couple talking about Bearizona and that sounded kind of interesting. So we checked it out. AND it was… depressing. I’m bummed we didn’t research it because the animals were pacing the fences. It was like Jurassic Park but full of deer, bison, bears, etc.

Lola seemed interested though..

Trevor bought Lo the traditional chew toy. And this trip, she got a mountain goat. Because she was our little mountain goat! We ordered Italian takeout and ate in bed :)

#PhillaceRoadTrip2014 Day Two

We woke up bright and early to catch the sunrise and start our hike up to Cathedral Rock.

I was incredibly proud of my dog. Haha. It was hard as a human to hike straight up the mountain. Trevor kept an eye on her, made sure she safe, caught her a few times.

After we hiked back down, we attempted Templeton Trail but didn’t make it to the river. We moved on to the next place.

We drove to our next destination (spent most of our time circling the parking lot until offroading the car and parking closer to the trail.

Michael. Lola was very concerned when we all separated.

 photo IMG_8229_zps6166a5d7.jpg

The only reason Lola was looking at the camera is because she was watching Michael take it. She gets anxious. She thinks she our protector.

Lola was pooped! We all hiked 8 1/2 miles! We were sooo tired!

 photo IMG_9034_zps72afce1a.jpg

We ordered pizza. Trevor and Michael went to pick it up while Lola and I cuddled :)
