Trevor signed us up for the Makahiki Challenge about 2 weeks ago. It’s a 3 mile race through mud and over obstacles. Last night we bought matching Hunger Games t-shirts (yah, we’re still pretty obsessed). On the car ride to Kualoa Ranch, Trevor’s iPod played today-specific songs like: Dirty Deeds – AC/DC, Fox on the Run – The Sweet, and Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen :)
We finally checked in after strategically avoiding numerous land mines – aka cow pies.
With our race bibs and timing chips in hand, we went back to pose for pictures before heading to the start line.
While we waited for our heat to begin, we watched hoards of costumed indviduals start their trek.
Thanks to the GoPro and Trevor’s willingness to carry it along the way, here are some photos of us getting a taste for the mud.
I decided not to take on the “Oochie Wally Wally”, so I took photos of Trev.
We believe these are huts from past movie sets..
We crossed the finish line.. Holding hands :)
At the end of the race, everyone was rewarded ONE Primo beer. We cleaned up at the water truck, put on our complimentary t-shirts, and enjoyed the concert (all provided by Primo).
Post race: El Mariachi is our favorite restaurant on the island.
I always get the cheese enchilada.
While Trevor always gets the campeon. Yes, he puts that away.. Every time.
We are now both looking forward to our second mud run on March 24th, the Warrior Dash!
